GUIDE

Google review request text templates by job type

These Google review request text templates are written for dealerships, trailer lots, HVAC companies and repair shops, and each one asks every customer the same way. Copy the wording, change the names, and send it only to people who agreed to texts.

Google review request text templates for five common jobs

Every template does four things: names the business, says thanks for something specific, asks plainly, and gives the link. None of them offers anything, suggests a rating or tells the customer what to write.

Dealership, after delivery

Hi [First name], thanks for buying your [vehicle] from [Dealership]. If you have a minute, would you leave us a Google review? [link]. Reply STOP to opt out.

Trailer dealership, after pickup

Hi [First name], thanks for picking up your trailer from [Dealership]. A Google review helps the next buyer find us. [link]. Reply STOP to opt out.

HVAC or plumbing, after a job

Hi [First name], this is [Company]. Thanks for having us out today. If the visit went well, would you share a Google review? [link]. Reply STOP to opt out.

Auto repair, after a repair order

Hi [First name], thanks for bringing your [vehicle] to [Shop]. Would you leave us a Google review about your visit? [link]. Reply STOP to opt out.

Service department, after a ticket closes

Hi [First name], thanks for visiting the [Dealership] service department. We would appreciate a Google review of your visit: [link]. Reply STOP to opt out.

What to leave out of the message

  • Anything offered in return: a discount, a gift card, a raffle entry. Google does not allow it.
  • A star rating or a phrase to use. "Leave us 5 stars" asks for a rating, not a review.
  • A request that names a staff member or a service for the customer to mention.
  • A reminder that has changed wording. Everyone gets the same message.
  • Anything about the customer's balance, credit or payment status.

Ask once. If a customer does not answer, leave it there.

When to send it, and who can receive it

Send between 9am and 8pm in the customer's own time zone, and not on Sundays or holidays. Send a day or two after the visit, while it is still on their mind.

Text only people who agreed to receive texts from you. If you send these yourself, keep a record of when and how each person agreed. Buzzmax sends the request for you, only to customers you tell us agreed to texts, with your business name and review link on every one.

Template questions

Can I put a link to Yelp in the text?

We do not recommend it. Yelp's own rules say businesses should not ask customers for reviews, and Yelp filters reviews that look requested. Ask for Google reviews.

Do I need "Reply STOP" in the text?

Yes. Every marketing-style text should tell people how to opt out, and carriers expect it.
