FOR CAR DEALERS

How to ask for Google reviews at a car dealership

To ask for Google reviews at a car dealership, text the buyer the day after delivery and every service customer the day their ticket closes, with the same wording for everyone and the link in the message. Do not rely on the desk conversation, and do not pay anyone per review.

Ask for Google reviews at a car dealership: sales first, then service

Sales gets the attention, but service sees the same customer far more often. A buyer rates you on the deal. A service customer rates you on whether you did what you said, and they have a lot more occasions to say it.

  • Sales: the day after delivery, once the plates and the car are theirs.
  • Service: when the ticket closes and the customer has picked up the keys.
  • Skip anyone with an open complaint or an unresolved problem. Fix it first, and let them decide whether to review on their own.

When your top salesperson wants customers to name them

Every floor has this. The salesperson who closed the deal wants the credit, and a manager is tempted to script it into the ask. Do not. Buzzmax's own review request rules bar asking a customer for particular content, including a rating, a keyword or a staff member's name. Customers are free to mention anyone in their own words.

For the same reason, do not pay a bonus per review, and do not run a contest on review counts. A salesperson who earns for each review has a reason to pick which customers get asked, and Google's policy bars selectively soliciting positive reviews.

What the message says

Name the dealership, thank them for the purchase or the visit, ask plainly and send the link. The text templates page has wording for delivery and for service tickets.

Only text customers who agreed to receive texts. Add the opt-out line. Send between 9am and 8pm in their time zone.

Doing it every week without a person owning it

A request process that depends on one porter or one BDC stops the week that person is out. Buzzmax takes the week's deliveries and closed tickets you send us and texts each customer who agreed to texts, with your dealership name on the message, between 9am and 8pm their time. It also drafts replies to your 4 and 5 star Google reviews with AI, in your voice, and posts them as the owner.

Dealer questions

Can salespeople ask customers for reviews in person?

Asking is allowed. What you cannot do is offer something for the review, pick which customers to ask by how you expect them to rate you, or tell them what to write.

Should I ask the day of the sale?

The day after is better. The customer has had the car overnight, and you are not asking while they are signing.
